Le Petit Atelier is a gourmet restaurant located in the center of Besançon. Offering superb small plates, you can dine indoors or outdoors. The excellent dishes are a true pleasure to eat. I highly recommend it.

The setting is very charming, the wine list is lovely, and the service is pleasant. We were drawn in by the short and original menu. The prices are on the higher end (expect to pay between €19 and €24 for lunch dishes), but this is justified by the use of organic meat and several local products. While the quality of the ingredients was excellent, we found the portions to be quite small. We have small appetites but left still hungry. We understand that quality products come at a cost for the restaurant, but we would have appreciated, for example, a few more starches and vegetables on the plate – perhaps a way to ensure satiety without cutting into profit margins!

In the heart of Besançon. Very flexible, attentive service with outstanding food (we had three different main courses, all extremely good). Special requests for our child, which weren't on the menu, were fulfilled within minutes. Highly recommended!

We had a very good meal; everything was delicious and beautifully presented. We were only slightly disappointed that the portions were insufficient, except for the rice, which was plentiful. It was the first time we'd ever been hungry after a course, but the service and the quality of the food were excellent!

A restaurant serving "fusion" cuisine (meat, fish, nuts, labneh, rice, cilantro, spices) with local (trout, etc.) or seasonal (asparagus, etc.) ingredients, without excess or pretension. The service is very efficient and the dishes are served very quickly. In the evening, the restaurant is full and smells wonderful. The wines by the glass are quite good. It's not cheap, but these days that's the price to pay for good food.

The food was delicious. Our request for a vegan dish was fulfilled without any fuss and it was very good. The efficient staff member was very accommodating.

September 22, 2025 - I stumbled upon this restaurant online while passing through Besançon, a city completely shut down on Sundays and Mondays. I was blinded by the reviews from trendy, eco-conscious customers who claimed it was an excellent restaurant, praising both the friendly service and the delicious food, etc., etc. The waitress asked us to confirm that we would vacate our table before 9 pm, as we had a reservation for 7 pm. At that moment, we truly thought we had found the Holy Grail. In fact, we had found it the previous evening at Pitaya Thai Street Food, located about a 7-minute walk away on Rue des Granges. Believe it or not, they both serve the same Asian-inspired dishes, such as spicy Indian curries, teriyaki fish, and Thai cuisine. The difference is that the rich, organic-loving hipsters go to Le Petit Atelier to spend more, while the rest of the working class goes to Pitaya Thai Street Food to save money on the same dishes, and Pitaya doesn't kick you out for a while!

Delicious food, a feast for the eyes, smiling faces, efficient service, and quality wines and products that were even adapted to my husband's vegetarian diet. Thank you for this lovely experience.
